Risk and Compliance Officer
The role
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Risk and Compliance Officer!
The successful candidate will have two to five years experience in a law firm or professional services. They should be an all rounder who can hit the ground running.
The team
Our Risk and Compliance team is well established and currently has a Head of Risk and Risk and Compliance Manager. This role will complete the team.
Key experience
This opportunity is ideally suited for a proactive, person with a can do attitude. Some of the roles and responsibilities will include:
- Client onboarding
- AML/SAR – analysing documentation and reporting back to the MLRO and ensuring where necessary that the relevant STOPS and notices are in place
- Assisting with any and all source of funds and source of wealth investigations, reviewing and documenting findings/questions and documenting any further evidence required.
- Credas/EIDV – admin for the ID portals, ensuring that everyone has the relevant access, guidance and support when using the portals and assisting with any queries re understanding the reports received.
- Any and all ongoing monitoring alerts re PEPS and Sanctions
- Complaints – confidently handling complaints, investigating and dealing with the firms response to the complainant. Dealing with any and all investigations/further documentation required by the Legal Ombudsman.
- Skilled with GDPR considerations
- Accreditation & Audits – dealing with regulatory audit experience is necessary. Ensuring all documents are compiled and ready for audit by the relevant auditor, ensuring that all corrective action from the previous audit has been complied with and documenting the same.
- Policy updates
- Manage the Risk email inbox – responding to and assisting with responses to the risk emails including data breaches, AML, conflicts, complaints, claims, queries etc.
- Ability to comfortably speak to people of varying degrees of seniority and coach them through our processes.
- Researching new or planned changes suggested by SRA/Law Society/authorising bodies
- Ensuring updated Sanctions lists are forwarded as and when received
- Undertakings- logging new undertakings on our systems and ensuring that these are monitored and updated at regular intervals
- Price transparency – checking all is up to date with the HOD and amending where needed
- CQS – annually assisting HOD of residential with CQS accreditation, booking and monitoring of all training to ensure that we are compliant with CQS
- General risk admin duties
Salary dependant on PQE to be discussed at interview.
