Family and Divorce – Lawyer
The role
The team has a fantastic opportunity for a Lawyer within the Family team.
The successful candidates will ideally have a minimum of 2-4 years PQE.
The team
Our team is recognised throughout the Chilterns, Home Counties and Thames Valley as a leading provider of high quality legal services. We work with a broad range of clients for first-time buyers through to high net worth portfolio clients.
Our team is located across 2 of our offices – Amersham and Marlow.
Key experience
The Family Team at Blaser Mills deals with all aspects of family law including divorce and dissolution, the separation of cohabiting partners, resolving the financial issues between cohabiting partners and divorcing spouses plus all matters relating to children impacted by a divorce or separation. In addition to this, we can assist with premarital / prenuptial agreements, cohabitation agreements, separation and post nuptial agreements and assist with issues with former spouses and family members including non-molestation orders, occupation orders and in some cases injunctions to freeze assets.
We have a wealth of experience dealing with issues regarding children and have been involved in relocation cases, specific issues such as choice of schools, medical intervention and a contact with other parties and applications to prohibit parent or guardian from certain steps.
You will work closely with other team members and will be given the opportunity to develop your own long-term career.
Main purposes of role (not exhaustive)
- Experience in handling fast paced work whilst delivering excellent customer service.
- Ability to work closely with the Partner in Charge of the team, handle both their own case load, and assist the team
- Ability to negotiate.
- Billing in accordance with set targets, other than where exceptional circumstances apply.
- Perform fee earning work accurately, reliably and in accordance the firm’s AML policies and the firm’s quality and risk management procedures.
- Flexibility and multi-tasking, dealing with a number of matters at any given time.
- Attention to detail.
- Ensure proper control of work in progress, billing and cash collection.
- Be effective in networking and new business development, retaining existing contacts and developing new work from existing clients, seeking new clients for themselves and others. Will develop and support marketing initiatives.
- Maintain and nurture an appropriate network of contacts and referrers and endeavour to promote the firm in their professional and personal lives.
- Gain or maintain IT skills appropriate to modern legal practice, comfortable using a Case Management System.
- Proficient at fee recording and administration.
- Travel to other offices and client sites will be required.
