Corporate – Associate

The role

This role is ideal for a Corporate solicitor with 4-7 years’ (PQE), possessing a solid grounding across a broad range of corporate matters. A high level of technical ability is essential, along with proven experience in building and maintaining strong client relationships, particularly with fast-paced and demanding clients. Around 30% of the M&A work is cross-border, so international experience is advantageous. Strong negotiation skills and commercial awareness are also important.

The role involves managing an individual caseload while also working closely with the Partner in Charge on various transactions. The successful candidate must be flexible and capable of handling multiple competing deadlines, often outside of standard working hours. A keen eye for detail and the ability to carry out fee-earning work accurately and reliably, in line with the firm’s quality and risk management procedures, are vital. Accurate billing and time recording in accordance with set targets, except in exceptional circumstances, is also required.

Beyond client work, the position includes involvement in business development and marketing activities. The ideal candidate will be proactive in generating new work from existing clients, seeking out new opportunities, and helping to promote the firm both professionally and personally. Maintaining up-to-date IT skills relevant to modern legal practice, demonstrating proficiency in administrative tasks, and being willing to travel to other offices or client sites when necessary, are also key aspects of the role.

Marija Sukyte

Marija Sukyte is an Associate Solicitor in the Dispute Resolution Team, specialising in commercial disputes and contentious probate.

In the commercial sphere, she advises businesses and individuals on a broad range of dispute including contractual disagreements, shareholder and partnership conflicts, professional negligence claims and debt recovery matters.

In contentious probate, Marija assists executors, beneficiaries, and other parties in dispute over wills, trusts and estate including Inheritance Act claims and will validity changes.

Taking a pragmatic approach, she focuses on cost-effective solutions tailored to clients’ goals. She always explores negotiation and mediation to resolve disputes efficiently and minimise disruption.

Rosina Hough

Ros is an Associate in our Residential Property Team.

She has experience dealing with the sale and purchase of both freehold and leasehold properties, lease extensions, re-mortgages, transfers of equity, buy-to-let transactions, first registrations, probate sales and retirement properties.

Ros acts for a wide range of clients from first time buyers, property developers and high net worth clients. She particularly enjoys developing good relationships with her clients and supporting them throughout their transaction.

Maryam Abbasi

Maryam is an Associate in our Family and Divorce team.

Her experience spans across all aspects of family law, including divorce, financial remedy claims, private children matters and cases of domestic abuse. In particular, Maryam specialises in injunctive proceedings including making applications or defending against applications for non-molestation or occupation orders. She also specialises in financial disputes, having dealt with matters of varying complexities and values including cases with an international element.

She advises on and prepares cohabitation agreements, pre and post nuptial agreements and increasingly deals with change of name applications.

Maryam is a member of Resolution and takes a pro-active and sympathetic approach, recognising the importance of resolving issues in a constructive manner.

Veronique Gutteridge

Veronique is an Associate in the Wills, Trust and Probate team.

She advises on a range of private client matters. This includes drafting and advising on Wills, preparing and registering Lasting Powers of Attorneys, as well as the administration of estates. Veronique also has experience in making Deputyship applications.

Veronique is friendly and personable and puts her clients at ease when dealing with difficult matters.
